Welcome to Emerging Geo's! A blog dedicated to Emerging Markets, Global Economics, and Geopolitical Activities which dramatically effect the markets. I hope you enjoy Emerging Geo's.
I think Iraq will always be in this situation unless someone can convince the Iraq officials that they cannot do this alone. Without open market trade and banks making loans...Who will invest in a country that has nothing but OPEC? Iraq has many resources to draw from but the greed of the government. Government is necessary to th existance of civilized society. Iraq has no government. Iraq has greedy politicians who will not budge on the fact that the people of Iraq can help flurrish the country into the world trade market. Until the people get involved, Iraq will continue to parish.
I truly can not believe that after all these years that they have had to prepare and work to make things right and after a brutal dictatorship like saddam and all the great help by the USA, it all comes down to what this article indicates is really going on. Truly amazing!!
this article certainly explains the difficulty in turning the country around. To many government officials and bank executives will be exposed for their corrupt actions, and they will fight to the end to prevent that
I THINK THIS A TIME NOT TO BE SCARED ..IRAQ WILL RV ITS MONEY...THEY HAVE TO ITS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN MAKE THERE COUNTRY BETTER,,,IT WILL HAPPPEN FOR THE GOOD OF THERE COUNTRY ...
Would Hillary Clinton hold a forum to encourage U.S. Corporations to invest in and do business in Iraq, which could cause harm to these same corporations if Iraq was truly years away from coming out of the stone age? Remember Citibank and other banks and companies have set up offices.
If this is true then how is it that Exxon, BP, Marriot and many other large companies supposedly are signing contracts and opening for business in Iraq?
So the main problem is access to capital especially in electronic form, I thought this problem should be resolved in a few weeks from now with the new undersea cable that will give internet access to even the most remote areas of Iraq along with ATM's and other easy banking services. So I am alittle confused at the pessimism?
It's like the Iraqi people are 10 feet away from the greatest, most delecible banquet table full of the bounty of the earth but cannot partake of the feast. They are close enough to see it, almost touch it, smell it and can imagine how sweet the flavor would be but after years and years of promises, they still cannot touch and taste it.
It's the same position we're in with this RV. We're that close but it keeps eluding us. Beyond frustrating...and with no end in site.
obviously like your website but you have to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very bothersome to inform the truth on the other hand I will definitely come back again. Rochester Wristlet

well, if this is the case, Iraq is light years away from having a tradeable currency, and the rv is just as far off.
